The nearly full moon rising over Jervis Bay, Australia, in blue hour as the last pink leaves the sky. The famous white sand beaches and crystal clear water catch the light beautifully as it fades. In this image I have increased saturation, contrast and the the moon to better capture the feeling of being there.

This is our star being eclipsed by our moon during an annular eclipse. I viewed this in Tokyo during the early hours of May 20th, 2012. I still remember the anticipation in everyone's faces due to the fact that the clouds would not open the sky to us but also because the light around us began to dim and we knew our window of opportunity to see the eclipse was fading. It was only in the last 10 or so minutes did the clouds thin out and leave a very translucent layer for the sun to be able to shine its light through for us to see a massive ring appear above us.

This is one of my favorite buildings to photograph in Nashville. It’s old and has tons of character. I have yet to go inside to see if the interior holds as many stories as the exterior boasts, but I plan to soon.

Budgies. Budgies, also known as budgerigars and parakeets, are sociable birds, and in the wild may be seen in flocks of hundreds or more. They have been bred into many different colour forms, but the birds in this photo are the natural colour form, which I think is hard to beat.

I shot this behind our house on Valencia St in the SF Mission District. I set up my tripod and a step ladder. I balanced myself on the top of the ladder and my friend took the shot. I then climbed down, removed the ladder, and captured a second image. Later, in Photoshop, I worked with two layers: 1. me and the ladder; and 2. the empty alley. I then used a layer mask to brush away the ladder, leaving my body hanging in mid-air. The concept was intended to illustrate the power of salvation, a gift from Jesus through which he works in our lives to rescue us from self-destruction.

Little do many people know, a very famous song by ABBA called ‘Waterloo’ is actually set in a small village outside of Liverpool called Waterloo, not London. The amount of people who do not know this upsets me as I live here now and it’s a vibrant village full of life, it’s own beach and beautiful sunsets. (Like this one)

Moraine Lake has been somewhere I've wanted to visit for 15 years. Last week I finally managed to go there with my Fiancée and what an absolutely beautiful lake it is. When we landed in Calgary we had a 1.5 hour drive to our hotel in Banff and then slept for 3 hours before going on the drive up to Moraine Lake. We arrived at 5:30 to beat the crowds and got super lucky with the weather as it had rained the night before. This place is very special, and everyone should go and see it at least once. I can't wait to go back

This Carolina Wren flew in to the feeders that I had hanging from this gorgeous branch and after having its fill of food it hopped up onto the branch and gave me a few poses. This was my favorite as it stood up tall and right in the one opening in the branches. I had set up to shoot backlit for the feeders because I knew the sun would be too bright for a front lit shot and would look harsh. Using backlight and a row of dark green bushes in shade I was able to capture this dramatically lit shot of the little bird and the beautiful pink spring cherry blossoms.

I recently went on a 10 day holiday to Banff, Canada. Banff is somewhere that I've wanted to go for about 15 years and it was even better than I expected. I took this photo at the back of Moraine Lake. I went there to get the good photos everyone would expect, but I also wanted to capture shots not everyone thinks about. I made an effort to "Look behind where you're standing" in order to capture something a little different. In this shot, you can see some of the blue glacial ice above the Moraines that surround the Lake and the extremely dynamic weather that you get in the Canadian Rockies.

The light of the setting sun hits Mt Cook with the glacial water of the Hooker River in the foreground. This was just off the Hooker Valley Track in New Zealand. The hike was awesome, and hard to beat in the views per mile/difficulty level. It's a relatively short, flat hike that has 3 cool bridges and great views in every direction.

I’ve been visiting this part of the California coastline since before I can remember. Every year my parents would take my siblings and I camping in the redwoods just a few miles away from this very stretch of Hwy 1. I still come back to this place whenever I get a chance, it’s just too beautiful and too full of fond memories to stay away for long. This is my submission for International Women’s Day. You see this image told a completely different story before, but something I never forgot about was the secondary story that crept into my mind and would stay there for when the time was right. The time is now perfect. While the original story we told was to do with manipulation for ones own personal gain as seen by the expression on the background model’s face, I realised this image could also tell the story of empowering others. And more specifically in this case, women empowering other women which I saw as a great strength!

I recently had the fortune to visit my dream country of Japan. This photo was taken when I visited the city of Kyoto. Kyoto has that New Olde vibe that other cities do not possess. Bustling with countless shrines and the famous Gion district, visiting Kyoto is truly a memorable experience. I took the picture in the famous and crowded Ninenzaka neighborhood alley. Just drop down from Kiyomizu-dera, you will soon find Sanenzaka before reaching Ninenzaka. Along both neighborhoods you will find yourself surrounded with Japanese shops and picturesque cherry blossoms (in the right season)
