Surprise: A Joyful Message on the Whiteboard

This is my friend Maliek Jones. We recently went on a leisurely walk in the mission to capture some portraits for his girlfriend on Valentine’s Day. Among the shots we captured, this one was our favorite.

Great expression captured on this older lady's face. She caught my attention when I walked past. Reminds me of the work by street artist Ernest Zacharevic but I'm not sure it is one of his.

I was hiking around Yosemite and photographing with a variety of lenses. I took several shots with a 28mm f2 and some with my 50mm f1.8. It seemed I was capturing good pictures but all of them only slightly deviated from the typical pictures you see of these colossal rocks. On whim I pulled out my dad’s old 200mm Minolta Rokkor telephoto lens that used in the 1970s with his XD11. I started shooting with this heavy old lens and quickly became obsessed with the details and colors it showed. Somehow a lens with a narrower field of view helped show just how giant and beautiful El Capitan is.

This trip was one of the most intense of my life: after drove around 18 hours from Leknes (Lofoten) to Posio (Finland) and nearly a thousand of km on our shoulder, we sleep around 3 hour before heading up to this really mesmerizing place. In Riisitunturin National Park, we have spent the sunset and the night, and after that, my friend, Alessandro, has lost himself during the night, shooting the trees under northern light, but fortunately Finnish Police have found him in less than 2 hours, but this is another story.

From the Oh Tilly series "Creative Workspace", this is one of my favourite images because of the shallow depth of field and that adorable #hashtag mug (one of my faves for a morning coffee). There's a local pottery guy, his name is Devil, and he sells these little pots at the Sunday markets. I am so addicted to his pieces and to supporting his business that I pick up more than one every week. My husband rolls his eyes every time, but I've seen him pick them up and admire them. ;)

Tibetans and supporters protest near the Chinese Embassy in Paris, against the abduction of the 11th Panchen Lama. Gedhun Choekyi Nyima was recognised by the Dalai Lama as the 11th Panchen Lama on 14 May 1995 at the age of six. Three days later, on 17 May, he along with his parents went missing. Reffered as “Tibet’s Stolen Child”, he is the youngest political prisoner in the world.

I was on a trip to Hormoz island then a boy came to me and tried to sell his huge seashell. When I looked deeply to his beautiful face, I've noticed he has a stunning eyes. So I asked him to let me shoot his eyes plus I bought him a Coca. Then this photo has been created.

As wise and as wholesome as he looks, Nana Albert speaks life into those around him. He's experienced a full life, complete with adventures on different continents and a beautiful family that he holds dear. In our brief conversation, he shared with me how he discovered the essence of life is found by knowing that the Creator of all things. Life, defined by Nana Albert, is Christ living in Nana Albert and through Nana Albert.

I took this photo of Gordon the Bornean orang-utan (Pongo pygmaeus) who was born on 09/12/97 at Monkey World. He was born prematurely and had to spend the first month of his life in an incubator, however, he is now a dominant male with fully developed cheek pads. Gordon sat at the glass for a long time and likewise, I stood waiting patiently to capture his character as he sat staring into the lens.
