The Sun is going down, I need to take this photo before the light is gone. I excuse myself and let my friends chat, grab the tripod, the remote and a little end table, go in the sunroom, take my clothes off, slip this lacy black gown on, balance on the table and take about 10 photos. From the Oh Tilly series "Creative Workspace", this is one of my favourite images because of the shallow depth of field and that adorable #hashtag mug (one of my faves for a morning coffee). There's a local pottery guy, his name is Devil, and he sells these little pots at the Sunday markets. I am so addicted to his pieces and to supporting his business that I pick up more than one every week. My husband rolls his eyes every time, but I've seen him pick them up and admire them. ;)

I’ve been visiting this part of the California coastline since before I can remember. Every year my parents would take my siblings and I camping in the redwoods just a few miles away from this very stretch of Hwy 1. I still come back to this place whenever I get a chance, it’s just too beautiful and too full of fond memories to stay away for long. This morning was my first time visiting with a drone, and it was an incredible experience getting to see this place that I love from a new perspective

I was staying in Southwold again (my favourite place pretty much anywhere in the world). The beach huts are a common thing to photograph (there’s a puncture of them in my unsplash collection) but I’m also fascinated by the breaking waves. I like this shot because of the textures in the breakwater and the shadow created by the water droplets.

Lagos was actually the first place I was able to get really close to seagulls. There where a lot of them on the beaches and they were constantly fighting for the places with the best views. I tried to get a close shot and moved a little closer with every picture I took, but at some point my respect of them just got too big, so I stayed away. This one, that was actually taken from further away is definitely my favorite.

There’s nothing like a Michigan beach in my book. The sand is thick and grainy, perfect for afternoon drip castles that can last all day. Seagulls sing for hours, driftwood begs you to find a crafty project, and friends dot the sand without it feeling crowded. Bring a towel, a book, and your best shades because you’re going to be here for a while. Even on overcast days, this is the place to be.
