Bagrati Cathedral The Cathedral of the Dormition, or the Kutaisi Cathedral, more commonly known as Bagrati Cathedral, is an 11th-century cathedral in the city of Kutaisi, in the Imereti region of Georgia. A masterpiece of the medieval Georgian architecture, the cathedral suffered heavy damage throughout centuries and was reconstructed to its present state through a gradual process starting in the 1950s, with major conservation works concluding in 2012. A distinct landmark in the scenery of central Kutaisi, the cathedral rests on the Ukimerioni Hill. - Wikipedia -

Fog rolls down into Lake Wakatipu, New Zealand at sunset. I was driving towards Queenstown, NZ in an attempt to shoot the Remarkables for sunset. I was running behind schedule to make it in time, and was driving along Lake Wakatipu when the light began to change. I came across a small rest area/campground(side note, NZ is awesome for that #vanlife!) and hiked down to the lake and began shooting. Fog began to roll over the mountain and it was much more beautiful in person than this shot captures. As the sun got further down, it illuminated the clouds above in color making a spectacular sunset. I wished I had a stronger ND filter for a long exposure here, but had only grabbed the 3 stop instead of 10 stop before I left.

This was a long exposure I did where my friend drew a cross with a flashlight. The shutter was set to about 10 seconds.

The Cape Hatteras lighthouse, captured with love on a brisk evening in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Even without the proper gear for a long exposure shot like this, I think it still turned out alright. I'd also like to give a shout out to the state and national park services for all they do to preserve the natural beauty found within our country. They make a huge difference and I really can't thank them enough.

Messier 101 - the Pinwheel Galaxy. A grand-design spiral galaxy that's estimated to be approximately 21 million light years away and 170,000 light years across, compared to the Milky Way's 250,000 light year diameter, it's estimated to be home to around one trillion stars - more than double the Milky Way. Its asymmetrical shape is due to gravitational forces from surrounding smaller galaxies, one of which is visible in the upper right of the frame, a smaller elliptical galaxy, NGC 5204. This shot is just about ten hours (118 x 300s) of total exposure taken with a ZWO ASI294MC-Pro through an Explore Scientific ED127CF at 952mm focal length.

Had a long weekend so I picked up a ticket to Los Angeles and flew out there for some much needed relaxation. Was great to get some content again for the first time since I've moved away from Rome, and the weather really helped pull me out of that winter slump.

An old photo, but definitely one of my favourites. Fireworks long exposures are very tricky, you never expect the result, sometimes not so good… or sometimes great!

Long exposure of vehicles traveling along the Rt. 97 Scenic Byway. As can been seen from the shot, this is the famous section at Hawk’s Nest that has multiple tight s-bends. The pull-offs along this section give magnificent elevated views of the Delaware River.

The incredible colors are the results of adjusting the white balance to a warmer temperature and then reducing the exposure. Nature is simply magnificent!

M51 through 127mm/952mm FL telescope for 9:55 of total exposure from 8600’ in CO. Located an estimated 23 - 36 million light years from Earth, M51 is approximately 30,000 light years across and home to an estimated 100 billion stars. It’s an interesting target due to its interaction with a dwarf elliptical galaxy, which it appears to be cannibalizing, but with the use of the Hubble astronomers have determined that the dwarf galaxy is actually behind M51. There is still interaction, though, and the dwarf galaxy’s gravitational forces have created areas of great star formation in M51.
