Sunset at Clingman's Dome, Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Tennesee, USA. This is an older shot from a trip down to the Smokies quite a few years ago. The sky really lit up that evening with color, but I struggled to find a good composition from the top of Clingman's Dome. I ended up trying to use some of the nearby trees to frame the colorful sky above.

Fog rolls down into Lake Wakatipu, New Zealand at sunset. I was driving towards Queenstown, NZ in an attempt to shoot the Remarkables for sunset. I was running behind schedule to make it in time, and was driving along Lake Wakatipu when the light began to change. I came across a small rest area/campground(side note, NZ is awesome for that #vanlife!) and hiked down to the lake and began shooting. Fog began to roll over the mountain and it was much more beautiful in person than this shot captures. As the sun got further down, it illuminated the clouds above in color making a spectacular sunset. I wished I had a stronger ND filter for a long exposure here, but had only grabbed the 3 stop instead of 10 stop before I left.

Not only I took this cool picture with a Rycote Blimp and the Sony MDR 7502 headphones, I also recorded the sounds coming from the ricefield. Sound is something that a picture can't tell you. A picture ends by its frame but not the sound! I traveled 35 days from Ho Chi Minh City to Ha Giang and lived another month in Hanoi and created one of the largest sound libraries from Vietnam. I went to Berlin with some good friends a few weeks ago. We were pretty late for the sunset, but made it just in time. We went up on a terrace of a hotel there to get that view! I'm really happy with the result of that long exposure. What do you think?

Sitting on a perch in the early morning sun I was able to position myself to get some palm trees in the background to give that classic Florida vibe to this portrait of a Barred Owl. The morning sun was shining right on the owl and I did darken down the background a good bit to make it less distracting. I was lucky enough to spend about 2 hours with a pair of these lovely owls and watch them fly around the forest from perch to perch, get mobbed by a flock of Blue Jays and just generally sit around.

I stayed in Shanghai for around three days and I never got to see Shanghai without some combination of fog, mist, and rain. It was all worth it just for the aura that surrounded the skyline at night.

Legend has it that Java island was was once floating on the ocean, unstable and shaky. The Gods decided to move a piece of Mount Meru from India and nail it down to the earth so that the whole island of Java would stop moving. This new mountain ( the one in the picture) is then called Semeru.

We were all terribly sick at this point and had been at it several days. We had an early morning start, not sure how far we’d have to trek until we found a homestay. At mile 8 my teammate slipped and rolled downhill, gaining a concussion ruining her knee. There was nowhere else for us to go though. So we bandaged her up and continued downhill. We stumbled across this village just in time for sunset. Running over this small winter river and into GP.
