This is an abandoned house in the middle of nowhere--at least 20 miles to the nearest town (of about 500 people). it's a really creepy house and has a dark vibe but then i saw the fading sunlight highlighting this message. The word "PEYOTE" is also tagged all over the walls of this 100-year-old house, so...draw your own conclusions.

I call this photo “Life on Mars”. I took this with a drone over the Christmas Valley Sand Dunes in central Oregon. This was right as the sun was setting in the high desert and I love how the shadow of this massive sand dune jumps out as the sun slips under the horizon. These sand dunes are pretty remote but worth the trip if you don't mind a long drive and unpaved roads. You can drive right up on the sand dunes if you have all-wheel drive.

Palouse Falls Dawn. Palouse Falls is located in an area of southeastern Washington where the scenery is much different than what you would typically associate with the PNW. It's a beautiful area of rolling hills and fields of grass. In the middle of it all is this waterfall, with one of the coolest little campgrounds just off the side.

I drive by this custom upholstery shop in Revere, Ma everyday and see interesting cars parked out front. I finally got the nerve to pull over an ask if i could take some photos of the car. The owner was very happy and proud that i wanted to take pics of his car and he happily obliged. sometimes all you have to do is ask!

Chile's Valle de la Luna bathed in the soft light of the Atacama desert after sunset. I've talked before about how much I love the light in the desert. The air seems to create such a diffuse quality to the light around sunset, providing all sorts of pastel shades of color. Maybe it's the fine dust scattering the light. This is similar to a shot I posted a little bit ago, but at a later time. You can see how the bright golden light of the sun in the previous shot before sunset, changes into the soft, diffuse light of after sunset.

Cold brew coffee! I believe we've got something really interesting to beat the heat! This is for all of you who really need their caffeine fix but the heat just makes a hot brew unappealing. After a couple of experiments with easily available coffee and brewing method, I and my friend arrived at something we like. Shot this with two LED bulbs in an octabox on camera right. It had to be a pouring shot to capture the mood of anticipation before we get to the brew and have it. I can just imagine the smells wafting around and the sound of coffee being poured onto clinking ice!

The Cape Hatteras lighthouse, captured with love on a brisk evening in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Even without the proper gear for a long exposure shot like this, I think it still turned out alright. I'd also like to give a shout out to the state and national park services for all they do to preserve the natural beauty found within our country. They make a huge difference and I really can't thank them enough.

Not only I took this cool picture with a Rycote Blimp and the Sony MDR 7502 headphones, I also recorded the sounds coming from the ricefield. Sound is something that a picture can't tell you. A picture ends by its frame but not the sound! I traveled 35 days from Ho Chi Minh City to Ha Giang and lived another month in Hanoi and created one of the largest sound libraries from Vietnam. I was hiking around Yosemite and photographing with a variety of lenses. I took several shots with a 28mm f2 and some with my 50mm f1.8. It seemed I was capturing good pictures but all of them only slightly deviated from the typical pictures you see of these colossal rocks. On whim I pulled out my dad’s old 200mm Minolta Rokkor telephoto lens that used in the 1970s with his XD11. I started shooting with this heavy old lens and quickly became obsessed with the details and colors it showed. Somehow a lens with a narrower field of view helped show just how giant and beautiful El Capitan is.

Huge snowflakes and complete silence on the ice, with the exception of the odd ice crack rippling through the valley reminding you that you’re on top of a lake of water.
