80s in the sand - Page 3

I spent the first week of january in Miami because I had to work on a client video. I didn’t see much of the city but on my last day there I was able to take a quick swim in the ocean and a sunset walk down Miami Beach. A good way to finish off my very first time in the states.

You see these kinds of pickups all around in the Wadi Rum desert. They complement the landscape so well.

There’s a reason why they shot the movie The Martian in the Wadi Rum desert in Jordan. If it wasn’t for a pickup that you see driving through the sand once in a while, you’d forget you’re on Earth when you’re there.

When we were in the Wadi Rum desert, we spent the night in a bedouin camp right in the middle of the desert. We slept in tents under the desert stars. We woke up before sunrise and headed for a walk. Seeing these camels with the sun rising behind them was something out of this world. A memory I will forever treasure. Glad I had my camera with me!

I’ve been visiting this part of the California coastline since before I can remember. Every year my parents would take my siblings and I camping in the redwoods just a few miles away from this very stretch of Hwy 1. I still come back to this place whenever I get a chance, it’s just too beautiful and too full of fond memories to stay away for long. This morning was my first time visiting with a drone, and it was an incredible experience getting to see this place that I love from a new perspective

These photos are from one of my many Iceland visits. Iceland is the place that unlocked many things for me and broke so many chains in my head.

Walking and exploring on an island in New Zealand called Waiheke when I saw the light on the other side of this type of “entrance”. What wonderful landscape will I find on the other side? How long will the road last until it reaches its destination?

There’s nothing like a Michigan beach in my book. The sand is thick and grainy, perfect for afternoon drip castles that can last all day. Seagulls sing for hours, driftwood begs you to find a crafty project, and friends dot the sand without it feeling crowded. Bring a towel, a book, and your best shades because you’re going to be here for a while. Even on overcast days, this is the place to be.

I mean, that’s why I’m looking to escape. A beautiful city that sells itself as highly livable but prices out pretty much everyone that lives in the region. That said, I’m pretty sure that’s ‘cause we’re spending our money on the extra pearls – who exactly has enough money for _another_ baby, I’m not really sure. Maybe that Nathan guy.

A mid-winter bird of paradise gives a great leap towards the heavens, winking at us as she lifts off. Another lousy winter day in northern California.
